Daily Skincare in Five Minutes or Less

by Lawrencia Jones

Today’s hectic lifestyles often leave little time to devote to skincare and beauty routines. Obviously, you want to look your best and make a good impression during your day, but your busy schedule could make it hard to indulge in complicated beauty routines. Fortunately, there are ways you can ensure great skin — even in five minutes or less.

Finding Simple, Effective Skincare Products

Choosing the right products is critical to a successful skincare routine. For optimal results, choose skincare products that are suited to your skin type, whether you have oily, dry or combination skin. Also take into consideration any skin problems you have such as acne, rosacea, sensitive skin or aging skin with wrinkles. Using the wrong products on problem skin just makes the situation worse.

A Girl with Beautiful Skin

Even if you’re essentially happy with your current routine, it’s worthwhile to at least check out other options. Your skin changes over time and what worked several years ago might not be the best option for your skin today. Often the right skincare routine can make the difference between tired, imperfect skin and a clear, healthy complexion. When you use products suited to your skin type, you’re far more likely to keep your skin in optimal condition. Caring for healthy, vibrant skin is much quicker and easier than trying to tame skin problems.

Your Daily Beauty Routine

Now that you have the right products, it’s time to create a skincare routine that delivers results in five minutes or less. Here’s a three-step process that will get you out the door looking beautiful in no time:

Step 1 – Cleanse. Washing your face is such a simple, universal procedure that few people really take the time to consider if they’re doing it right. Whether you use a liquid cleanser or bar soap, work up enough lather to thoroughly cover your face. If you’re in a hurry you might be tempted to wash quickly, but it’s important not to skimp on cleansing. Your skin needs deep cleaning to remove bacteria, dirt and any residue from other products or makeup. In addition to thorough cleansing, sufficient rinsing is important as well. Rinse your face with lukewarm water until you’re sure that all cleanser has been removed.

Step 2 – Treat. The products you use during step 2 will vary based on your skin type and condition. For example, in this step you could want to exfoliate your skin, refine your pores or remove excess oil or flaky skin. In the evening, this step could include a more intensive night treatment to help nourish and heal your skin while you sleep.

Step 3 – Moisturize. If your skin is dry and aging, you probably consider this step a necessity. But moisturizing is important even for youthful and oily skin, especially if you use drying products to treat skin problems. If your skin is very oily or acne-prone, be sure that you choose a moisturizer that is suited to your skin type and is non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores and cause a breakout).

When you have a busy schedule, devoting time to beauty and a consistent skincare regimen can be difficult. With these easy tips, however, you can create a routine that’s fast, easy and gives you glowing skin.
